Found a bat? Please call Bat World NOVA at 703-973-3157. PLEASE DO NOT HANDLE THE BAT WITH BARE HANDS OR ALLOW ANYONE ELSE TO HANDLE IT. KEEP CHILDREN AND PETS AWAY FROM THE BAT. If the bat is indoors, close all windows and exit points to confine the bat to one room. Using gloved hands, place a cardboard box (a shoe box works very well) over the bat. Gently slip a piece of sturdy cardboard between the bat and the surface it is resting on. Carefully turn the box right side up and slide the cardboard away as you simultaneously place the box lid on the box. Use two rubber bands to secure the lid. Call Bat World NOVA for assistance. Every year Bat World Sanctuary rescues, rehabilitates and releases hundreds of bats that might otherwise die. We also provide lifetime sanctuary for bats that have been retired from zoos and research facilities. Bat World is 100 percent staffed by volunteers. We are not state or federally funded. We are not reimbursed for medical treatments, food, or shelter. Our funds must come from the public we serve. Please help us save these wonderful animals by becoming a member of Bat World or making a donation on-line at www.batworld.org..
