The Raptor Conservancy of Virginia (RCV) is a Virginia non-profit that rehabilitates injured, orphaned, or ill native species of birds of prey (usually over 200 each year) and works to return them to the wild. The well-trained RCV volunteer staff handles all raptor rehabilitation including intake, physicals, administration of medications, care, feeding, and conditioning for release. RCV provides skilled veterinary services for raptors, including all necessary surgeries. RCV arranges transportation of birds on intake, working with people on the scene and in its extensive transportation network.
In addition, RCV provides over 200 public educational programs each year using non-releasable raptors. Program venues include elementary schools, scout events, community festivals, and regular appearances in many of the federal, state, and county parks in the region.
