WILDLIFE RESCUE LEAGUE announces that they will participate in the 11th annual Spring2ACTion fundraiser (S2A) and encourages everyone that supports our wildlife community in the Northern Virginia region to participate. Sponsored by ACT for Alexandria, this 24 hour online giving event is our opportunity to raise money for our vital and growing organization.

Spring2ACTion will take place on April 28th from 12:01 AM to 11:59 PM. We encourage past supporters and new donors to take part as we appreciate everyone’s contribution. Early giving starts on April 14, 2021 at 12PM. Go to https://www.spring2action.org/organizations/wildlife-rescue-league to participate.

Donations to WILDLIFE RESCUE LEAGUE help support rehabilitators by providing food, formula, medications, caging and other needed supplies to care for wildlife until it can be released back into the wild. Even with the disruptions of the pandemic, 2020 was our best year ever and we reached $8831. Our goal this year is $9850 and we are looking forward to achieving this. Carolyn Wilder, Acting President of the organization added this exciting news, “The board has agreed to a 100% match of the first $800 donated to WRL through S2A this year.”

The pandemic raised awareness of the secret lives of the animals that surrounds us on a daily basis. With many people working from home and schools conducting virtual classes, a cornucopia of wildlife has become part of our daily landscape. The raccoons, foxes, birds, rabbits, deer and coyotes that wander in and out of lives enrich our experience and remind us that it is their world too. This new reality resulted in over 5000 calls to our helpline in 2020. WRL provided advice, assistance, resources, education and referrals.

Wildlife Rescue League is committed to educating the public about the natural history of native wildlife, how to exist with our wild neighbors and how to prevent the need for wildlife rehabilitation. Wildlife Rescue League also provides informational brochures as well as educational materials and presentations to inform the public about wildlife. Wildlife Rescue League does not receive any local, state or federal funding. We are totally dependent on donations to provide life-saving food, medicine and supplies.
