Mt. Vernon District’s Ides of Bark event returns to Grist Mill Park on Sunday, March 27, 2022, from 1 until 4 p.m., with games, prizes, food and fun for the whole family. Enjoy demonstrations by the Fairfax County Police Department’s K-9 unit. Visit with vendors that cater to all your dog’s needs. Pet First Aid/CPR demonstrations and health assessments will be offered every half hour by Pet Tech instructors. You can also license your dog with Fairfax County. Licenses will be available for $10 (cash or check), with proof of a current rabies shot.

Join Mount Vernon District Supervisor Dan Storck the National Park Service George Washington Memorial Parkway for the 5th Annual Mount Vernon District Environment Expo: Get Outdoors! Learn and Do! at Fort Hunt Park on Saturday, April 22, 2023. The free event is intended to educate and inform local residents on environmental challenges that we face on a daily basis, including ones that are unique to the Mount Vernon area. Attendees will leave the Expo with simple actions to take to make an impact on climate change and our environment.
The Expo will run from 10 a.m. – 2 p.m., featuring an Exhibit Area with a variety of County agencies, service providers and educators, informational and hands-on workshops, live music, electric vehicles, nature walks, Junior Ranger program, purple glass monster, food trucks and more!
