Volunteer Spotlight – Casey Nolan

Casey Nolan has been volunteering with Wildlife Rescue League since 2018 – almost eight years at this point! She recently transitioned out of her role as Vice President of the Board of Directors after previously coordinating the Trifecta lecture series and helping with helpline volunteer training. Now Casey is serving primarily as a helpline volunteer.

Casey’s positive experience volunteering with the Friends of Texas Wildlife prompted her to immediately search for a local wildlife organization when she learned she’d be staying in Northern Virginia longer term. Some of her more memorable experiences include finding wildlife herself and using her training to actually take them to vets or rehabilitators, including an injured mourning dove and a juvenile squirrel, as well as loving the yearly Critter Carnival, the first of which allowed her to put many faces to names she had seen only on emails. She still remembers many facts about rabies from Dr. Burwell’s first Trifecta lecture and found it fascinating!

An avid traveler, Casey recently returned from a 10-day trip across Croatia, Slovenia, and Istanbul, where she ended up being run over by a motorcycle, but thankfully was not seriously injured at all!

Wildlife Rescue League offers thanks to the dedicated volunteers who give their time, energy, and hearts to helping injured and orphaned wildlife. The spotlight will feature exceptional individuals whose diverse skills and unwavering commitment exemplify the spirit of WRL.

Volunteer Spotlight is brought to you by Andres Soria. Andres joined WRL’s Marketing Committee in 2022 and is one of our go-to photographers. In his time off, he enjoys wildlife photography, hiking, and biking.
