Volunteer Spotlight – Jennifer Rokasky

Jennifer Rokasky has been volunteering with Wildlife Rescue League since December 2021, serving mainly as a helpline volunteer and assisting Volunteer Coordinator Linda with volunteer screening calls. She is also currently serving on Wildlife Rescue League’s Board of Directors.

Before she started at Wildlife Rescue League, she knew nothing about wildlife and found WRL online through Volunteer Match while looking for volunteer opportunities. Her first bat call remains particularly memorable. It consisted of a call where a bat stuck to a glue trap, with the rehabilitator who took the case asking the caller to be brave, grab the glue trap with gloves, put it in a box, and bring it to her. Jennifer also treasures any opportunity to interact with volunteer Billy Rios, who always takes the time following up on how he handled rescue calls.

Working for Prince William County Schools in the Energy & Sustainability department, Jennifer loves watching movies and playing trivia nights in her free time.

Wildlife Rescue League offers thanks to the dedicated volunteers who give their time, energy, and hearts to helping injured and orphaned wildlife. The spotlight will feature exceptional individuals whose diverse skills and unwavering commitment exemplify the spirit of WRL.

Volunteer Spotlight is brought to you by Andres Soria. Andres joined WRL’s Marketing Committee in 2022 and is one of our go-to photographers. In his time off, he enjoys wildlife photography, hiking, and biking.
