She has a particular fondness for the occasional out-of-state caller who stumbles onto the WRL line looking for resources in their own area. One of her most memorable experiences was helping coordinate a goose rescue, guiding Billy Rios to a goose trapped in fishing-net material, which he had to reach by kayak. She also has a soft spot for turtle rescues, including a memorable case where a caller found a non-native turtle in their yard. After consulting with rehabbers, Aisling helped determine it had likely escaped from a nearby home, and the caller went door to door until they found the owner.
Now working as an environmental scientist for the Maryland Environmental Service, Aisling also volunteers at the National Aquarium in Baltimore as an aquarist assistant in the touch tank exhibit. She also contributes to the Terrapin Education Research Partnership program and recently qualified for the Boston Marathon at the Richmond Marathon!
Wildlife Rescue League offers thanks to the dedicated volunteers who give their time, energy, and hearts to helping injured and orphaned wildlife. The spotlight will feature exceptional individuals whose diverse skills and unwavering commitment exemplify the spirit of WRL.
